Blue Lennon Granite for the Hard Rock Hotel

We fabricated and installed the stone for the Hard Rock Café in the transformation of the Cumberland Hotel into the Hard Rock Hotel, London. The property in Marble Arch, the first Hard Rock hotel in the UK, is one of the largest hotels in the city with approximately 900 suites and rooms, occupying a property that was formerly a favourite of 1960s rock legend Jimi Hendrix.

The principal designer on the project was Scott Brown Rigg whose "design concept derived from the deconstruction of music and fashion – the layers that go into the creation of music, fashion, architecture and art."

The hotel has a large business clientele and the decor had to meet their high expectations of a 4 star hotel in the London market whilst also incorporating the music memorabilia that epitomises the Hard Rock brand.

The hotel has a Rock Royalty Lounge, GMT Bar, a cocktail bar and a Rock Shop. There is also a new 370-seat Hard Rock Cafe with a performance space, the third in London.

The GMT Lobby bar was awarded Best Bar/Club/Lounge – Europe at the International Hotel and Property Awards on 28 June 2019 and was also a finalist for Best Club and Bar Design at the SBID International Design Awards 2019.

All bar tops were in Blue Lennon granite, a fitting choice given the musical context.

Reception desks were completed in Silestone Calacatta Gold quartz. stoneCIRCLE supplied and installed the large porcelain floor tiles which cover most of the 2650m² floor area, as well as the Noir St Laurent marble vanity tops and the tiling to the walls in the public restrooms.
