Most natural stones are suitable for use in a pool or spa area, although some of the softer marbles and limestones should not be used in the basin itself.
For outside use, the choice is really dictated by the use: marble works well for statues and ornaments, limestone and other types of stone such as Portland are often used for benches and wall coping.
