natural stone floors and staircases

stone flooring

Stone is a natural choice for flooring as it is practical, being easy to clean, and durable. It has been used for millennia, and the multitude of different types and colours of stone means that it lends itself to many different settings. Choose granite for high traffic areas, and kitchens to match or complement the worktops. Limestone is also often used throughout residential living areas.

Marble is particularly suitable for anywhere that a sense of luxury or opulence is required. The different colours and veining can be used as a part of the design of the space; book-matching marbles with large scale veins for dramatic effect, or inlaying different colours of marble into intricate designs.

The surface finish can also be chosen to match the setting, with a sandblasted finish where slip hazards might be highest such as around a pool, and a polished finish for more formal settings.

staircases

Stone has also been used for staircases for as long as people have been building them. Marble and limestone are the most frequently used stones, although granite is also sometimes used. In a lot of cases we apply the stone to an existing staircase, but we also create solid stone steps, risers and strings. For one retail store where there were load bearing concerns, we fabricated the stone and clad steel staircases.

Our experience working on some of the most prestigious interior projects in the country, on hotels, retail stores and private residences makes us ideally placed to help identify the best material for your project, fabricate and install it once chosen.

Please do get in touch to discuss your project and what we can do for you.

workmanship

Our factory is one of the most modern in the UK, and the majority of our machines are CNC (computer numerically controlled) which allows us to produce with great accuracy and much more quickly than a traditional stonemason could. However our masons still carry out the final finishing and quality control by hand. In addition we have our own installation teams whose skills and attention to detail ensure that the finished job is as good as it can be.
